Problem fix for “switching or disabling the TrackPoint center button function”

ThinkPad laptops.

This solution page is dedicated specifically for ThinkPad E430, but note that it can perfectly work with all other ThinkPads that use UltraNav and Trackpoint.

When clicking the touchpad’s middle button multiple times it directs you to a small tutorial page which displays some useful information about using this “TrackPoint/UltraNav” feature.
The problem here is when the user can’t figure out how to turn off this feature which becomes annoying for a while; the tutorial describes that the touchpad icon on system tray is visible and the TrackPoint settings are accessible from that place.
Now this is the problem, the user can’t find the touchpad icon on system tray, therefore, can’t access the settings (from system tray or Control Panel as described in the tutorial) to disable or configure Trackpoint.

SOLUTION:

The UltraNav settings can be accessed from Control Panel, just a little different way than the tutorial described.

1. You should first go to Control Panel, and access the search toolbox.

2. Type “mouse” in the search toolbox and click on the mouse icon.

3.  Now the Mouse Properties window will appear. Click on (UltraNav) tab to go to the ThinkPad touchpad configurations. Check “Show UltraNav icon on the system tray” to show the icon on the system tray and access the settings easily.

4. We’re finished. Now you can either access these settings from Control Panel or clicking once on the system tray icon.
